Abstract

Aim: This literature review aims to critically examine empirical and qualitative studies on the implementation of Outcome-Based Education in nursing education, with a focus on its impact on learning outcomes, teaching–learning processes, curriculum management, faculty readiness, and clinical competency development. Background: Outcome-Based Education (OBE) has been widely adopted in nursing education to enhance curriculum alignment, learner-centered instruction, and competency development in response to evolving healthcare demands. Globally, nursing education institutions have implemented OBE to improve teaching effectiveness, clinical competence, and graduate employability. However, variations in implementation strategies and contextual challenges necessitate a comprehensive synthesis of existing evidence to better understand the effectiveness and limitations of OBE in nursing education. Methodology: Comprehensive literature review was conducted on impact of OBE outcome based education among undergraduate nursing students. Detail of literature review has been mentioned in flow chart of literature review. Total 15 article were cited and added in literature review.Bottom of Form Conclusion: The reviewed literature indicates that OBE positively influences nursing education by improving academic performance, creativity, clinical skills, learner satisfaction, and curriculum alignment. OBE also supports systematic curriculum development and accreditation readiness when effectively implemented. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited faculty preparedness, resource constraints, inconsistent implementation, and insufficient longitudinal and student-centered evidence persist. Addressing these gaps through sustained faculty development, integration of technology-enhanced learning, and context-sensitive research is essential to maximize the effectiveness of OBE in advancing nursing education and practice.
